  3. When I start a presentation, the Player shows Slide 0 of 0 below the slide, and then when the first audio clip finishes, the presentation exits. Why?
Most likely, you have the Flash 4.0 plug-in installed instead of the Flash 5.0 or newer plug-in. This program needs the features available in Flash 5.0 or newer to run properly.
To install the Flash 5.0 or newer plug-in, go to FAQs General.

  4. When I click on the Slide Gallery or Transcript buttons, it seems as if nothing is happening. Do these buttons work?
Depending on your connection speed and/or on the current traffic patterns on the Internet, the larger presentations may take longer to load in your browser. Though it may take a little longer to load this much information, the wait is worth it.
If you continue to experience problems displaying the Slide Gallery or the Transcripts, please contact our technical support department for assistance.

  5. My connection to the Internet is slow. Is there anything I can do to make the presentations run faster?
The presentations in this webcast perform best on higher speed connections. From a development standpoint, it is possible to compress the audio tracks and image files further to help improve performance on slower connections. However, in doing so, the quality of the audio would degrade and the finer details in the slides would be lost. This would have a negative impact on the viewing experience.

If you are accessing the site from a slower connection, you could work through the presentations with the following manual method:

    • Access and print the transcript for the presentation.
    • Click on the Slide Gallery for the presentation. It may take some time to load the thumbnail images of the slides.
    • Click on the Expand icon (it looks like a magnifying glass at the bottom of each slide) to enlarge the thumbnail image of the slide you want to view. A new browser window will open and an enlarged view of the slide image will be displayed.
    • Read the transcript excerpt while studying the slide.
    • When you're ready to move on, click on Next Slide in the expanded image window.

  6. Can you explain the navigation to me?
The navigation for this webcast is organized into three groups: the links associated with the site, the buttons and icons associated with the presentations, and the buttons associated with the presentation player.

  7. Navigating within the site
Use the site navigation links at the top to navigate within the site. Click on

    • Sessions to see the Sessions Menu
    • Presentations to see a list of all the presentations available for viewing
    • Speakers to see photographs and biographies available for each speaker

The Search capability at the top of the page is a quick and easy way to find information in the audio transcripts. Enter a word in the Search box, click Go, and the results will be returned to you. Each entry on the Search Results page tells you the name of the presentation, the speaker, and the slide number containing the search word. It also provides a section of the audio transcript so that you can see how the search word is used in context. Finally, it provides icons so that you can easily access the slide, the slide gallery or the transcript for more details. If you'd like to narrow your search further, try the Advanced Search feature.
